External extreme conditions such as pressure and temperature can modify the crystal structures of materials hence their electronics optical and magnetics properties. Therefore, in additional to seeking out new materials with desired properties, modifying existing materials by applying extreme pressures and/or temperatures provides another mean to engineer materials. In this research project, the approach of applying extreme conditions will be used to improve novel materials for solar cell and hydrogen storage applications.
