Project 5 : Scanning Probe Microscopy for Near-field Optics Research

 

           Recently, surface plasmon resonance scanning probe microscope has been developed based on fundamental physics. The technique can be used to scan material surfaces to reveal various properties in addition to the common optical imaging. Therefore, it is becoming a new important microscope for material research. Although, the surface plasmon resonance scanning probe microscopes are commercially available, they are still very expensive. This research project aims to develop the surface plasmon resonance scanning probe microscope at a more affordable price in hope to make the technique available widely in Thailand.
